HOW MUCH ARE YOUR KITTENS?

Our pet and show quality kittens:
Balinese-$2500-$2900
Oriental SH/LH-$2100-$2500
Adult retirees (cats over 10 months) are rarely available and are $500-$800
Cats and Kittens go home vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. They come with CFA or TICA registration and 30 days free trial insurance.

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR CATS?

Our cats are on a raw/wet food/frozen feeder mice diet. We do not give dry kibble. Orientals can be prone to inflammation issues and renal failure, which is often exacerbated by high carbohydrate/low moister diets. Dry kibble, even grain free, its not an ideal choice for this breed. Foods high in corn, soy, wheat, potatoes, beans, chickpeas and other carbs take away from the nutrition of animal protein and fats. Cats on these diets typically have gut imbalances, over production of ear wax, bloating, very large and smelly stool, excessive urine concentration due to chronic dehydration, obesity, and some can even have behavioral issues. We have fed our cats a raw/wet diet for over 10 years and we see little to none of  these issues.

kittens get fed meals 2-4 times a day depending on age and eat a wide variety of poultry based raw, freeze dried raw, canned beef cat food, frozen feeder mice and dehydrated rabbits ears for chewing.

DO YOU SHIP?

As a rule, no. Absolutely no cargo shipping. Courier only. we are willing to meet new owners within reasonable distance of the midwest

DO YOU HAVE ONES WITH THE EXTREME EARS? DO YOU HAVE SPECIFIC COLORS?

We breed our cats for show standard. We feel that the oversized ears that is currently trendy is not for the betterment of the breed. These cats are not just a set of ears, there is many factors going into the breed. We have many coat colors but since we are small cattery, i cant predict when and if they will be available. cats are placed with homes based on fit/personality rather than how the cat looks.

I HAVE HEARD THAT ORIENTALS/BALINESE ARE HYPOALLERGENIC. MY SPOUSE/CHILD/ROOMATE IS ALLERGIC. IS THIS OK?

While some people with allergies can tolerate these breeds better, no cat is totally hypoallergenic. It depends entirely on how clean you keep your home (wash bedding, ect) and the person themselves. While we dont sell our cats as "hypoallergenic" we do consider selling to those with allergies on a case by case basis. You must live reasonably close and have the consent of the person with allergies to bring the cat home.

CAN I HAVE MY KITTEN EARLY/CHEAPER/FASTER

no. kittens need time to grow and mature, as orientals are a slower developing breed. We hang onto them until age 16-20 weeks. This is to ensure good behavior growth, and gives us time to properly vaccinate and neuter them. if a kitten is not ideal for you, we may have retired adults for adoption, or can refer you to another breeder.

WHY DO YOU BREED CATS?

We believe in breeding cats as pets that have had the best possible start. Queens are healthy, fed correctly, and given proper mental stimulation. Studies have shown that these things produce better kittens who are mentally more able to be pets. Our breeding cats must have good temperments because those things pass on to the kittens. Orientals are really good at communicating with people, and many of them are great with other pets. While shelter cats can and do make wonderful pets, a lot of them have behavioral issues. We support and are active in TNR work (neutering feral cats) as well as breeding pets. This is the best way to ensure that we both reduce the population of unwanted cats and provide sound cats who are more suited for todays cats lifestyle of living indoors with multiple pets.  We respect the wishes of others who choose to adopt shelter pets along with those who want purebred. its only by working together that we will make any impact on the future of our pets. Trailhawk cattery cares for a feral cat community where we live, as well as own three rescue moggies whom we love very much.
